“Come” Means What Today?
Mixed messages = confused dogs.
Teaching your dog should be fun, rewarding, and a great way to build a stronger bond and connection. But when your requests change from day to day, or your tone says one thing while your body language says another, you are not actually teaching your dog you are just confusing them.
You say “Come” nicely one day, and they happily trot over, the next day, you shout it across the park in full panic mode. By the end of the week, your dog hears it and thinks, “This feels… emotionally inconsistent.” So they either switch off, and do a displacement or appeasement gesture or even bark at you out of frustration.
